“Wordless Receipts” is an exploration of gesture and its connection to full-bodied expression exemplified in an on screen format. While each featured dancers’ phrase work was inspired by singular gestures, our process breaking down the gestures’ movement quality and associated connotations evolved the work, until the starting gestures themselves were barely recognizable. As the dancers move through the piece, they explore the boundaries of their space and their limited connection to each other. The final result is a deeply reflective, dream-like sequence shifting between parallel movements and places, offering an intimate look at each individual dancer along with their combined impact.
